Hours: 28 hours per week (Additional paid hours may be available during markets, holidays and busy seasons.)
Regular working days: Wednesday–Saturday
Start date: As soon as possible
Starting salary: €14.99 gross per hour, excluding holiday allowance

Always Summer is an independent jewelry brand and concept store with an island soul and city spirit.

Our store brings together jewelry, gifts and creative experiences, with a special focus on pieces made in collaboration with Filipino artisans and independent makers. Alongside retail, we have a walk-in Charm Bar, a dedicated workshop area, host private events and regularly participate in markets and seasonal events.

We are looking for a dependable, commercially minded and hands-on person who can become a steady presence in our small team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the variety and personal nature of working in an independent boutique. Your work will go beyond standing behind the counter: you will help customers, contribute to sales and help keep the store’s everyday operations organized and running smoothly.

You will work closely with the owner during your training. Over time, you should feel confident running the store independently, following our systems and taking initiative in everyday situations.

Your role

Your days will be varied. You might begin by receiving and processing a delivery, then help a customer choose a meaningful gift, replenish the displays, prepare online orders and assist someone at the Charm Bar.

You understand that a beautiful store also needs strong organization behind the scenes. You enjoy working with customers, but you are equally comfortable counting stock, checking barcodes, organizing storage, cleaning displays and completing operational tasks accurately.

Most importantly, you do not wait behind the counter for customers to approach you. You feel comfortable starting conversations, discovering what customers are looking for and helping them find something they genuinely love.

What you’ll do

Customer service and sales

  • Welcome customers and create a warm, personal shopping experience
  • Proactively approach customers and offer help without being pushy
  • Understand what customers are looking for and make thoughtful suggestions
  • Explain our products, materials, makers and brand story
  • Help customers create jewelry at our 4-meter Charm Bar
  • Suggest complementary products naturally and confidently
  • Process purchases, exchanges and returns
  • Follow daily POS, opening and closing procedures
  • Contribute positively to the store’s sales performance

Inventory and store operations

  • Open and close the store independently after training
  • Receive, count and check incoming deliveries
  • Label products and check barcodes
  • Process inventory accurately in our system
  • Replenish sold products so displays remain complete
  • Help monitor stock levels and communicate when products are running low
  • Assist with regular stock counts
  • Keep product boxes, storage areas and materials organized
  • Prepare, pack and process online orders carefully
  • Keep track of packaging and everyday store supplies
  • Complete daily and weekly operational checklists
  • Maintain a clean, calm and well-presented shop
  • Communicate customer feedback, mistakes and operational issues clearly

Charm Bar, workshops and creativity

  • Keep the Charm Bar stocked, organized and visually appealing
  • Guide customers through creating bracelets, necklaces and bag charms
  • Assemble or repair simple jewelry when needed
  • Prepare materials for workshops and private events
  • Help host beginner-friendly workshops and creative activities
  • Assist with seasonal displays and store changes
  • Occasionally capture simple photos or videos of products and in-store moments

Because Always Summer has a dedicated workshop area, being hands-on and creative is very welcome.

Experience with simple jewelry making, beading, repairs, crafts or hosting workshops is a strong advantage. You do not need to be a professional jewelry maker, but you should be interested in learning basic techniques and comfortable helping customers during creative activities.

Markets and seasonal events

  • Help prepare products, displays and materials for markets
  • Occasionally represent Always Summer at selected markets and events
  • Assist with setup, customer service, sales, stock control and breakdown
  • Support the team during workshops, private bookings and busy shopping periods
  • Be available for additional paid hours during important seasonal periods, particularly the Christmas season

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who is responsible, proactive and comfortable working independently.

You notice when a display needs replenishing, when stock is running low, when a customer may need assistance or when something could be organized better. You take initiative instead of waiting for every small task to be assigned, think ahead and understand how different tasks connect. For example, assembling simple jewelry also means checking the finished pieces, labeling them, updating the inventory, replenishing the display and organizing the remaining stock.

You are:

  • Warm, approachable and genuinely interested in people
  • Confident starting conversations with customers
  • Commercially aware and comfortable contributing to sales
  • Reliable, punctual and consistent
  • Proactive, practical and solution-oriented
  • Organized and accurate, particularly with inventory and online orders
  • Comfortable taking responsibility for a full shift
  • Able to prioritize tasks without constant supervision
  • Open to feedback and willing to learn
  • Flexible when priorities change during a busy day
  • Interested in jewelry, design, crafts or independent retail
  • Comfortable doing both customer-facing and behind-the-scenes work
  • Available to work Wednesday through Saturday
  • Flexible to work occasional Sundays when needed
  • Available for additional shifts during the Christmas season
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is strongly preferred
  • Based in or near The Hague

A background in retail is preferred. Experience in hospitality, customer service, inventory management or another small business is also valuable.

Experience with Shopify, a retail POS system, online orders, visual merchandising, jewelry making or workshops is an advantage. Training will be provided.

Previous experience working in an independent boutique or small business is a plus. More importantly, you understand that working in a small team means helping with different parts of the store and caring about the quality of the overall customer experience.

A driver’s licence is helpful for market days but is not required.

Working hours

This is a 28-hour position, normally divided across four seven-hour shifts from Wednesday through Saturday.

Saturday availability is an important part of this position. You will not necessarily work every Sunday, but flexibility for occasional Sundays is appreciated. Sunday shifts will be scheduled in advance whenever possible, and the weekly schedule will be adjusted accordingly.

Additional paid hours may be available during markets, holidays, staff cover and busy seasons.

What we offer

  • A 28-hour position with an initial temporary contract
  • A starting salary of €14.99 gross per hour, excluding holiday allowance
  • Salary adjustments in line with changes to the statutory minimum wage
  • Additional paid hours during selected busy periods
  • 20% staff discount on Always Summer products
  • Training in our products, materials, store systems and Charm Bar
  • A varied role combining retail, operations and creativity
  • A regular Wednesday–Saturday schedule
  • A warm and informal workplace within a growing independent business
  • The opportunity to contribute ideas and improve how the store works
  • The chance to work with meaningful products and creative experiences
  • Room to grow in responsibility as the business develops

How to apply

Please email your CV and a short motivation letter to alwayssummernetherlands@gmail.com by Tuesday, 22 September 2026.

Applications will be reviewed as they arrive, so early applications are encouraged.

Please include:

  • Why you would like to work at Always Summer
  • Your relevant retail or customer-service experience
  • Your experience with inventory, stock or online orders
  • An example of a time you showed initiative at work
  • Confirmation that you are available Wednesday through Saturday
  • Your flexibility to work occasional Sundays
  • Your availability for additional hours during the Christmas season
  • Your earliest possible starting date
  • Any relevant jewelry-making, craft or workshop experience

Examples or photos of creative work are welcome but not required.

We are looking for someone who wants to become a dependable part of Always Summer and help us create a store that feels personal, welcoming and thoughtfully run.

We look forward to hearing from you 🌞
